Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Kenyan President William Ruto met in Toronto on Monday to discuss ways to boost trade and economic co-operation between the two countries.

The leaders explored measures to ease cross-border trade, remove business barriers, and look for joint investment opportunities in key sectors.

Dennis Beru, journalist and Team Lead at Grassroot Journalism, described the meeting as an important step for the region.

“This discussion shows that both Uganda and Kenya are committed to building stronger trade links and creating opportunities that benefit people on both sides of the border,” Beru said.

The talks underline the continuing efforts of both governments to strengthen bilateral relations and encourage shared growth in East Africa.
