Hong Kong head coach, Ashley Westwood is stepping down following last week’s 2–1 defeat to Singapore in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers

The Football Association of Hong Kong confirmed it had reached an agreement to end the collaboration with the 49-year-old Englishman, though no successor has yet been named.

Westwood came under fire from fans and even Hong Kong’s sports minister Rosanna Law, who said her views on match strategy ‘differed significantly’ from the coach’s. Since taking charge in August 2024, Westwood oversaw 20 matches, winning 10 and losing six.
