Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee in South Africa (SA) insists that attempted murder accused and alleged criminal cartel kingpin, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala will testify before it this morning

Yesterday Matlala’s lawyers threatened to seek an urgent court interdict to halt the proceedings.

They argued that their client had insufficient time to prepare his affidavit and his incarceration at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility in Pretoria had negatively affected his mental health.

The Committee’s  Chairperson Molapi Lekganyane says they have reached an agreement with Matlala’s lawyers that he will testify from the correctional facility.

” We have been talking to Matlala and his legal representatives and they’ve made a commitment that they will appear before the committee. There is nothing lost. We have been able to talk to the witness and his representatives. That’s why we made that announcement that we are proceeding,” he said.
