Some marketing experts in South Africa (SA) say empowering consumers is critical in tackling cybercrime.
This as some citizens stress over the advertised upcoming Black Friday bargains.
Some studies show that last year alone, online purchases surged by 37%, placing intense pressure on the country’s payment infrastructure.
Experts Shaylen Padayachee, “SA actually has a very robust and advanced payments ecosystem. So, if you look at digital transactions, they’ve been growing so aggressively year on year because of the payment infrastructure and the inherent trust that that ultimately results in for the consumer.
So, if you look at what we’re looking at from a forecast perspective for 2026, we’re looking at a $100 billion in the value of the e-commerce market from a transactional perspective.”
