Attempted murder accused and alleged criminal cartel kingpin Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has started to testify before South Africa’s (SA) Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.

He’s testifying from the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Facility in Pretoria where he is incarcerated.

On Tuesday, his lawyers’ attempted to get a postponement were unsuccessful.

They argued, among other things, that Matlala’s incarceration had negatively affected his mental health.

The committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane earlier gave the media a chance to take pictures of Matlala.
