Organisers say preparations for the 2030 event are well advanced.

Commonwealth Sport (CS) has confirmed that Ahmedabad, India, will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, officially replacing the original host, Alberta, Canada, for the centenary edition of the event. The decision was endorsed by 74 CS member nations during the 2025 Commonwealth Sport General Assembly held yesterday in Glasgow, Scotland, ahead of the 2026 Games set for the same city.

This will be the second time India stages the Games, following Delhi 2010, which was overshadowed by construction delays and allegations of corruption and mismanagement.

Organisers say preparations for the 2030 event are well advanced, with most venues already completed, funding secured, and budgets “meticulously worked out.” They expressed confidence that India will deliver a memorable Games for years to come.
