Yesterday, Batohi told the enquiry in Pretoria that Chauke’s decisions drew the interest of advocacy group, Freedom Under Law. The group subsequently filed a number of applications seeking the review of Advocate Chauke’s withdrawal of murder charges against Mdluli.
Mdluli was arrested in March 2011 for the kidnapping and murder of Oupa Ramogibe, who was romantically involved with his estranged partner. Batohi is the main witness at the Nkabinde Enquiry into Chauke’s fitness to hold office.
“On the May13, 2012, Freedom Under Law launched an application for the review of various decisions including this one that Chauke took. On October 9, 2012 Freedom Under Law filed a supplementary affidavit.
The November 2, 2012 the findings of the Magistrate Inquest were published. On the March 14, 2013 Freedom Under Lawfiled a further supplementary affidavit,” she said.
