SA National Department of Health is warning that reduced HIV programme funding
South Africa’s National Department of Health is warning that reduced HIV programme funding this year has created challenges for ongoing initiatives.
Deputy Director General for HIV and AIDS, Doctor Fikile Ndlovu, says a boost of millions of Rands from the National Treasury has helped sustain vital community based projects.
She is urging communities to work closely with the health system to improve monitoring and ensure support reaches those in need.
While fewer young people are contracting HIV a sign of progress Ndlovu stresses that more work is needed to strengthen prevention and care nationwide.
