SA continues to see an uptick in manufacturing output
South Africa (SA) continues to see an uptick in manufacturing output that increased by 1.0% month on month in October.
This is according to the latest manufacturing data released by Statistics SA for the month.
The increase is attributed to food and beverages, with eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reporting positive growth rates over this period.
SA’s manufacturing and mining sectors are starting the 4th quarter on a firmer footing following an increase in data released by Statistics SA for the month of October.
Director of industry statistics at Stats SA Nicolai Claasen explains the rise in production numbers.
“SA manufacturing production inched higher by 0.2% year on year in October, with eight of the ten divisions boasting a positive month. Food and beverages and electrical machinery were the most significant upward contributors. Food and beverages was one.9% and electrical machinery, 6.5% stronger.”
