Long queues of heavy-duty trucks have formed at the Beitbridge border post, with some drivers reporting delays of more than a day. Authorities have prioritised buses and smaller vehicles, leaving trucks waiting for extended periods.

Truck driver Antony Banda said he had spent 28 hours in the queue without sleep. “First priority, they are putting the buses and small cars to pass on the way to the bridge, especially. Then for the trucks, it is taking long. I don’t know what time I am going to reach the border or the Zimbabwe side,” he explained.

The congestion highlights ongoing logistical challenges at one of Southern Africa’s busiest border crossings, affecting trade and transport between South Africa and Zimbabwe.
