Portugal is set to return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2027 and 2028

Portugal is set to return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2027 and 2028, with the Algarve International Circuit near Portimão confirmed as the venue.

The circuit previously staged two Grands Prix during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

The Portuguese round will take the place of the Dutch Grand Prix, which will be held at Zandvoort for the final time next year. Portimão’s 2.89-mile layout, known for its sweeping hills and challenging corners, has earned praise from drivers for the driving test it provides.

Although the circuit is located in a rural area north of the coast and can be tricky to access, fans and participants alike have consistently highlighted its scenic beauty and potential for thrilling races.
