South African (SA) Minister of Water and Sanitation Pemmy Majodina, is in Lesotho on an oversight visit to phase two of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.
While the project has admittedly fallen behind schedule, its key project components, being the Polihali Transfer Tunnel, are 48% complete, and the billions of Rand Senqu Bridge are nearing completion.
The SA high delegation panel, together with their Lesotho counterparts have concluded a two-day oversight visit to the phase two of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.
While the phase two project has fallen behind schedule, both country’s officials have committed to a mandated quarterly visit in order to ensure that the 2028-2029 deadline schedule is met.
The complex Transfer Tunnel is now 48% complete and the massive, near long Senqu Bridge with billions of Rands price tag is at 93% completion state.
