Leo Bozell the third has been confirmed as the next United States (US) Ambassador to South Africa (SA). The conservative activist and media critic has pledged to advance President Donald Trump’s invitation to Afrikaners who seek to flee what he calls unjust racial discrimination.
He was confirmed in a bloc vote of 97 nominees on a party-line vote.
All Democrats voted against the confirmation.
Bozell might be eager to get to work as the next US envoy to Pretoria. He was nominated in March and said at his confirmation hearing that it was a challenging moment for US-SA relations.
He also said he planned to press SA to end proceedings against Israel at the International Court of Justice, where the charge is Genocide in Gaza and promised to advance President Trump’s invitation to Afrikaners seeking to flee SA.
He’ll replace Rubin E. Brigety II who stepped down in January and into a delicate moment on all diplomatic fronts.
