Angola have turned to French coach Patrice Beaumelle as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), following the departure of long-time Manager Pedro Goncalves to Young Africans in Tanzania.
Beaumelle is no stranger to African football’s biggest stage. He previously served as Hervé Renard’s assistant, helping guide Zambia and Ivory Coast to AFCON glory. His experience is expected to bring stability and tactical acumen to the Palancas Negras as they look to make their mark in the tournament.
Belgian coach Hugo Broos, who is preparing his squad to face Angola, has acknowledged the threat. “They will be tough opponents,” he said, underlining the respect Angola commands despite the recent managerial change.
With Beaumelle at the helm, Angola aim to combine his AFCON pedigree with the team’s local talent in hopes of a strong showing in the competition.
