The National Gambling Board in South Africa (SA) is urging the public to gamble responsibly as the festive season kicks in.
With year-end bonuses arriving and celebrations underway, authorities are concerned that some people may be lured into risky or illegal gambling activities.
Lungile Dukwana, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the board, said; “Many people have just received their bonuses and are eager to celebrate. This makes them a target for illegal gambling sites, which can pose serious safety risks and encourage irresponsible behaviour. We are advising the public to be cautious and stick to licensed operators.”
The board’s campaign focuses on raising awareness, enforcing regulations, and protecting consumers, aiming to ensure that gambling remains safe and enjoyable during the holiday season.
