SA’s Electricity and Energy Minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has confirmed Eskom currently has an over-supply of electricity

South Africa’s (SA) Electricity and Energy Minister, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, has confirmed that power utility Eskom currently has an over-supply of electricity, ensuring that households and businesses can expect uninterrupted power throughout the festive season.

Speaking to hundreds of residents at Nkowankowa Community Hall near Tzaneen in Limpopo provice, Ramokgopa said the surplus would allow Eskom to keep the lights on during the high-demand holiday period.

“The current electricity supply situation is stable, and we do not anticipate load-shedding over the festive season,” he told the community.

Officials said this comes as a relief to South Africans, who have faced intermittent power cuts in previous years during peak holiday usage.
