More than 50 people have been arrested in Pretoria for violating South Africa’s Immigration Act

More than 50 people have been arrested in Pretoria for violating South Africa’s (SA) Immigration Act, following a major operation led by the Tshwane Metro Police.

The operation also involved inspections of more than 20 properties across the city. Tshwane Metro Police Spokesperson Puleng Motholo said nearly 20 bags of counterfeit cosmetics were confiscated during the raids.

Authorities issued fifteen Section 56 notices to businesses for breaches of the Business Act, and one notice for contravening the Solid Waste By-laws. Inspectors also found four businesses operating without a valid Certificate of Acceptability.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by Tshwane Metro Police to clamp down on illegal business activities, counterfeit goods, and other municipal by-law violations.
