South Africa’s (SA) Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has sharply criticised Nigeria’s response to recent United States (US) military strikes, accusing the government in Abuja of supporting foreign military action rather than defending national and continental sovereignty.
In a statement, the EFF said Nigeria’s position effectively endorses external intervention on African soil. The party described the US strikes as a violation of Africa’s sovereignty and warned that such actions could normalise foreign involvement in African security affairs.
The EFF characterised the strikes as an example of “American military imperialism in Africa”, arguing that they undermine the continent’s right to self-determination and non-interference.
The party further cautioned that Africa risks becoming a battleground for global powers unless regional and continental bodies act decisively. It called on African institutions to assert their authority and prevent the continent from being drawn into conflicts driven by external interests.
