Chad’s military has condemned a drone attack it says was carried out by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), resulting in the deaths of two Chadian soldiers near the Sudanese border.
The strike took place in the town of Tine, according to Chad’s Armed Forces Chief, General Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud. He described the attack as a deliberate violation of international law and a serious breach of Chad’s sovereignty.
Military officials said the soldiers were targeted while carrying out their duties in the border area. The incident has heightened tensions between Chad and the Sudanese paramilitary group.
The RSF has been engaged in a protracted and violent conflict with Sudan’s national army since April 2023, a war that has caused widespread destruction and humanitarian suffering inside Sudan.
Chadian authorities said they are assessing the situation and have reiterated calls for respect for international law and territorial boundaries.
