This as the department of Justice and Constitutional Development has received an urgent application filed by B Xulu and Partners Inc, seeking to interdict the appointment of the NDPP.
The said SA law firm is led by attorney Barnabas Xulu, who filed an objection against the candidacy of former inaugural IDAC, Investigating Directorate Head, Advocate Hermione Cronje during the interviews which were held by the Advisory Panel earlier this month as the National Prosecuting Authority top job is expected to be vacant at the end of January next year.
The department of Justice and Constitutional Development intends to oppose the application. Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development Spokesperson, Terrence Manase says the department is to oppose the urgent interdict on the appointment.
“The department has received an urgent application seeking to interdict the appointment of the NDPP. The papers are under consideration, and in line with court rules, the department intends to oppose the application on the basis that it does not meet the requirements for urgency and is premature, as the president is still considering the advisory panel’s report, which assessed all inputs in respect of all candidates interviewed,” he said.
