The Azanian People’s Organisation (AZAPO) party in South Africa (SA) says that government cannot rule or govern a country through the agency of commissions of inquiry

AZAPO President Nelvis Qekema has raised concerns on the number of Commissions of Inquiry which have been established since the dawn of democracy. The latest was the Madlanga Commission established to investigate allegations of criminal infiltration and political interference in the criminal justice system. In his New Year’s message, Qekema says there are no consequences such as jail time for those implicated in the Commissions.

“Since the dawn of democracy, about 26 commissions of inquiry have taken place at a very, very, very high cost to the taxpayer. And all these commissions are taking place because there is mal-administration and mis-governance of the country. And then we are given this belief that these commissions of inquiry can correct or right the politics and economics of our country in AZAPO we don’t think so,” he said.
