A surge in violent attacks across Malawi has left communities shaken, with a growing number of people killed and others seriously injured.

The rise in violence has sparked concern over the underlying causes and the ability of authorities to contain the situation.

Channel Africa journalist Jane Chilimampunga says the pattern of attacks is becoming increasingly worrying. “What is particularly troubling is the steady increase in these incidents and the level of brutality involved, which continues to claim lives and leave many others badly injured,” she said.

Chilimampunga has been speaking to local analyst Bernard Mwanza, who has been closely tracking the developments. Mwanza says the violence points to deeper social and economic challenges facing the country, warning that the situation could worsen if these issues are not urgently addressed.

As fear spreads among residents, there are growing calls for decisive action to restore security and prevent further loss of life.
