Provisional results from the Central African Republic’s (CAR) electoral commission indicate that President Faustin-Archange Touadera has won a third term, securing an outright majority in the presidential election held on December 28.
The results, announced by the CAR’s top election official, Mathias Morouba, show Touadera receiving 76.15% of the vote. Former Prime Minister Anicet-Georges Dologuele trailed with 14.66%, while another former Prime Minister, Henri-Marie Dondra, garnered 3.19%.
The 68-year-old President, who first took office in the CAR a decade ago, had been seeking a third term following a 2023 constitutional referendum that removed presidential term limits.
