SACP and other civil society organisations will stage protest outside US embassy
The South African Communist Party (SACP) and other civil society organisations will stage a protest outside the United States (US) embassy in Pretoria, Gauteng Province, today.
The picket is aimed at expressing displeasure after the US took a unilateral decision to invade Venezuela and abducted President Nicolas Maduro.
Last night President Donald Trump directed his government to pull out of any treaty he says contradicts the US interests.

Maduro was taken to New York where he was charged on allegations of being associated with drug cartels and possession of high calibre weapons.
Both Maduro and his wife have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Meanwhile, the US has come under fire for invading Venezuela as this is in violation of the United Nations (UN) Charter.
Trump has also signed an order that direct his administration to withdraw from some UN agencies and treaties that he says are in contrast to US Interests.
After taking office last year president Trump signed executive orders pulling out US from the Paris Climate change agreement and the World Health Organisation.
