The accused faces 12 counts of kidnapping and one count of failing to stop when instructed to do so by police. He is expected to obtain legal representation and apply for bail.
The accused was arrested after authorities were alerted to a group of half-naked Ethiopian nationals, aged between 20 and 30, who were seen walking on the streets of Mulbarton, south of Johannesburg last week. Two additional victims had allegedly been taken by the accused in a vehicle. Police later intercepted the vehicle, but the accused fled the scene, resulting in a high-speed chase, which ended with his arrest.
