Gauteng Province Premier Panyaza Lesufi says if South Africa (SA) fails to address challenges within the education sector, its economy will not thrive.
This as skills acquired through education and training are vital to drive economies.
Lesufi was giving the welcome address at a breakfast event hosted by the Basic Education Department, honouring learners who excelled in the 2025 National Senior Certificate Exams.
Almost 900 000 full time and part time learners participated in the 2025 National Senior Certificate Exams.
Experts are predicting that the class of 2025 will exceed the record breaking and historic pass rate of 87.3% achieved by the class of 2024.
