Two people have been arrested in the South African (SA) town of Musina, in the Limpopo province for possession of explosives
Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba says officers gave chase after the suspects evaded a stop and search point in the town bordering the country and neighbouring Zimbabwe. Mashaba says during the vehicle search, police found bags containing explosives. He says the suspects will appear in the Musina Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The police were busy conducting stop and search duties along the N1 public road when a red Polo Vivo motor vehicle passed at high speed. Police turned on blue lights and followed the motor vehicle that stopped on the road next to Petros Truck Depot. The police asked the two male occupants permission to search the motor vehicle and it was granted. During the search, the police found a large black bag inside the boot and discovered that it contained explosives comprising 119 blasting cartridges and 24,” Mashaba said.
