South African (SA) Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen has allayed fears among farmers, saying the country has a long-term solution to address the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease.
He outlined a ten-year, phased strategy focusing on stabilisation, consolidation, and ultimately the removal of vaccination, with the goal of achieving recognition of freedom without vaccination by the World Organisation for Animal Health.
Steenhuisen was addressing the farming community and the media on efforts to restore SA’s international standing in the agricultural sector.
