Siyanda Baloyi went missing from Mbaula village outside Phalaborwa when it got flooded yesterday. The child’s mother, Olga Shivambu, survived by clinging to a tree. Police Spokesperson, Hlulani Mashaba says the community has been left reeling by the incident.
“The mother was fortunately trapped by a tree and was rescued by the members of soldiers, while the child could not be located. The search and rescue operations have been intensified by the multi-disciplinary teams to try and locate the missing child,” he said.
