The United States (US) has warned Iran that all options remained on the table a message delivered by Washington’s envoy during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council on the deadly protests in Iran.
Ambassador Mike Waltz argued that the repression that the Iranian “regime” unleashed on its own citizens, had repercussions for international peace and security, dismissing views that the protests were an internal matter for Iran.
But Tehran’s envoy hit back, accusing the US of efforts towards political destabilisation intent on internal unrest and chaos in his country, while pointing to sanctions as a cause for the widespread suffering of civilians.
The US again accused Iran of being a state sponsor of terror while rejecting Iran’s position that the protests were part of a foreign plot as a precursor to military action.
