Tensions have flared at Addington Primary School in Durban

Tensions have flared at Addington Primary School in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province, South Africa (SA) following a dispute over learner admissions.

SA parents, supported by members of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party and the advocacy group March on March, claim that more than 50 local children were left without school placements after available spaces were allegedly filled by children of foreign nationals.

Leader of March on March, Jacinta Ngobese Zuma, says the matter remains unresolved, with affected parents still awaiting clarity from education authorities.

She adds that her organisation plans to voice its disapproval through formal action.

Ngobese Zuma says it is deeply concerning that some SA parents feel compelled to pretend to be foreign nationals in order to secure school placements for their children.
