Religious and community leaders are calling for a divine intervention following the fatal shooting of five men at an informal settlement in the town of Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, South Africa (SA)

Police suspect the work of an extortion ring operating in the area. Last month 12 people were shot and killed at a nearby hostel . Community leader, Samuel Masilela says the community is heartbroken.

“This is so painful because few days ago there was a situation at hostel. People were killed there. What we can do as church leaders and civil groups, we need to come together. Form prayer sessions and pray. Because what’s happening here is bad for the young kids. Just imagine hearing some gunshots,” he said.
