The bail hearing of Mantesnot Erisado, accused of human trafficking involving 12 young men found in their underwear in Mulbarton, south of Johannesburg, South Africa, (SA) has been postponed to allow for further investigation.

Erisado also faces a charge of failing to stop for police. The case stems from an incident in which police picked up ten of the young men on the side of the road, while the remaining two were found inside Erisado’s vehicle following a police chase.

During proceedings, the court heard that Erisado had already been released on bail, reportedly sometime last week. Regional Magistrate Collen Matshitse confirmed that the matter would be postponed to March 05 to enable the State to obtain statements from the alleged victims.

Addressing the court, Matshitse indicated that the postponement was necessary for investigative purposes, specifically to secure the victims’ accounts. He further ruled that Erisado’s bail would be extended under the same conditions previously imposed.
