South Africa’s (SA) Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya, has been accused of threatening some people who reported rogue officers to the SA Police Service in the Gauteng province
That’s according to a member of the public, Mesuli Mlandu, who testified before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee, on Thursday.
The committee is investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system. It has also invited members of the public to make submissions.
Mlandu says he was one of the victims.
“That is why the SA police are here, where he made threats against me. He realised that I am not flinching. I do not know why he would think I would flinch because he is with the SA police. Then he sent a lawyer’s letter to threaten me, to gag me. Me and my lawyers and I said, ‘bring it on’. Then, when he realised I am not flinching again, he sent me to the Hawks. Then suddenly the Hawks were knocking at my door,” he said.
