The organisation has been calling for the complete shutdown of the Israeli Embassy in SA. On Friday, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) announced that Seidman is required to leave SA within 72 hours.
In a statement, DIRCO said the decisive measure follows a series of unacceptable violations of diplomatic norms and practices, which it argues pose a direct challenge to SA’s sovereignty.
These violations include the repeated use of official Israeli social‑media platforms to launch insulting attacks against President Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as a deliberate failure to inform DIRCO of purported visits by senior Israeli officials.
Africa4Palestine Spokesperson Alie Komape said, “It’s long overdue. We think it’s good riddance. We have been calling for the closure of the Israeli Embassy and for the expulsion of all Israeli diplomatic staff and personnel from this country. We are pleased that he has been kicked out of SA, but we want more to be done. We want the SA government to fulfil its commitment to sever and cut all ties with the apartheid state of Israel.”
