Burkinabè government is pursuing ambitious plans for socioeconomic development

The Burkinabè government is pursuing ambitious plans for socioeconomic development aimed at improving the lives of its population.

In this context, the national budget has grown from over 2 000 billion CFA Francs ($3.6 billion) in previous years to more than 3 000 billion CFA Francs ($5.4 billion). In the coming months, the Transitional Legislative Assembly will review the 2025 budget implementation law, marking the final stage of the budget adoption process. The government has indicated that achieving its goals will require strengthened revenue mobilisation through bold fiscal reforms.

Speaking on the budget, Burkinabè economist Étienne Lankoandé said; “This increase reflects the government’s commitment to social and economic development. However, translating these plans into tangible results will depend on efficient revenue collection and careful management of public resources.”

Lankoandé added that the coming months will be crucial for ensuring that the reforms underpinning the budget are implemented effectively, stressing the importance of both transparency and accountability in the process.
