The system is aimed at enabling citizens to register, update, and verify their details remotely, this in turn improves the accessibility, efficiency, and integrity of the voter registration process. 

To date,  the portal  has  recorded over 26 000  newly registered voters bring the number of registered voters a little close to 28 million voters.

IEC says this is a step in ramping up efforts to empower all voters, particularly young people, to actively participate in SA’s democratic and electoral processes.
