Sudanese medical charity says at least 24 people, including eight children, were killed when a vehicle carrying displaced civilians

A Sudanese medical charity says at least 24 people, including eight children, were killed when a vehicle carrying displaced civilians was attacked in North Kordofan state.

In a statement, the Sudanese Doctors Network said the passengers were fleeing violence in neighbouring South Kordofan when the vehicle was allegedly targeted by fighters from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The group has not commented on the accusation.

The organisation said two infants and several women were among those killed in what it described as a strike on civilians attempting to escape conflict. Survivors and the injured were taken to Al-Rahad, where access to medical care is limited.

The Doctors Network condemned the incident as a breach of international humanitarian law.
