South Africa’s (SA) Minister of International Relations and Co-operation, Ronald Lamola, has called on the African Union (AU) to play a more assertive role in resolving conflicts across the continent.
He also urged member states to honour their financial commitments to the United Nations (UN) amid warnings that the global body is facing a funding shortfall.
Lamola’s remarks come ahead of the AU summit taking place this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
