South Africa (SA) has made no progress in tackling corruption over the past three years, according to Transparency International and its 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released today.
The Index shows worsening global corruption and a decline in leadership, with SA stagnating at a score of 41, unchanged from last year and still below the global average of 42.
The CPI evaluates public-sector corruption in 182 countries and territories, using a scale from 0, indicating highly corrupt, to 100, indicating very clean.
