Forensic Investigator Paul O’Sullivan is taking the stand before Parliament
Forensic Investigator Paul O’Sullivan is taking the stand before South Africa’s (SA) Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee today.
He initially insisted on appearing before the committee virtually, citing security concerns.
This follows claims made by KwaZulu-Natal Province Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s saying that SA’s judicial and government system is infiltrated by cartels.
Speaking ahead of his testimony, O’Sullivan has dismissed allegations levelled against him, describing those behind the claims as criminals and saying such attacks come with the territory after more than three decades in investigative work.
He has also accused some commentators within SA Parliament of crossing the line from criticism into defamation, including claims that he is an international spy.
O’Sullivan says he will use his testimony to set the record straight and present facts to the committee, while also raising concerns about corruption and criminal elements within the criminal justice system.
