Five major international organisations have expressed grave concern over the worsening conflict in Sudan

Five major international organisations, the African Union, Intergovernmental Authority on Development, League of Arab States, European Union and the United Nations (UN), have expressed grave concern over the worsening conflict in Sudan, urging all parties to cease military operations without delay.

In a joint stance reflecting growing alarm over the humanitarian toll, the bodies called for an immediate end to hostilities and renewed efforts towards dialogue to prevent further civilian suffering and regional instability.

Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, reiterated the call for a cessation of violence, stressing the urgent need to protect civilians and allow humanitarian access to those affected by the fighting.

The organisations warned that continued clashes risk deepening Sudan’s crisis and undermining prospects for peace, as the country grapples with displacement, shortages of essential supplies and a deteriorating security situation.

They appealed to the warring sides to prioritise the safety of civilians and commit to a political path that can restore stability to the country.
