The rain‑affected clash at Willowmoore Park was reduced to 14 overs per side, but Khaka made full use of the conditions, taking 3 for 10 to restrict Pakistan to 100 for 9.
Khaka said the team arrived fully focused on wrapping up the series after their patchy showing in the opening match in Potchefstroom. She praised the collective improvement in execution, particularly from the bowling unit.
“We knew what we wanted, we wanted to win the series. I think we came here to execute everything and improve from the previous game. The wicket suited us, especially the pace bowlers, and we executed better than we did in Potch. Yesterday, as a bowling unit, we were not bowling to the batters at all, so today we made sure we did what was needed,” she said.
Chasing 101, SA could easily have stumbled, but Khaka said the batting group handled the target with the right level of intensity. She believes the mature approach in the second innings reflected a growing confidence within the side.
Khaka was handed a different responsibility with the ball, operating outside her usual new‑ball role. She downplayed the significance of the switch, saying she is prepared to bowl wherever the team needs her.
“I have been bowling everywhere, in the powerplay and in the middle. It is not new to me, although it is a tough job. I am taking the responsibility for the team,” she said.
The final T20 will also be played in Benoni on Monday after the match was moved from Kimberley. With the series already secured, Khaka said the aim now is a clean sweep, emphasising that the team must stay disciplined and continue ticking the key performance boxes.
The Proteas Women will look to build on their momentum as they fine-tune preparations for upcoming international assignments.
