The Nigerian government has warned its citizens about illegal recruitment for foreign wars. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cautioned Nigerians against accepting military service contracts with foreign powers, saying recruiters often offer high salaries and fast-tracked citizenship to entice young people.

Officials say some Nigerians were promised jobs or education but ended up on the frontlines with minimal training. Earlier this week, Ukrainian authorities confirmed the bodies of two Nigerian men who had signed up to fight alongside Russian forces; both were killed last November in Luhansk.

The government points out that participation in foreign conflicts poses serious personal risks and could have wider diplomatic and security consequences. Citizens are urged to verify any overseas employment or training offers before engaging.
