US–Iran nuclear talks

The White House says only limited progress was made during this week’s nuclear talks between the United States (US) and Iran in Geneva.

While negotiators agreed to continue discussions, significant differences remain and Tehran is expected to return with more detailed proposals in the coming weeks.

A second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the US has concluded in Geneva, with both sides acknowledging limited progress.

The discussions were mediated by Oman and focused on resolving the long-running dispute over Iran’s nuclear programme.

But according to the White House, major gaps remain.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to set any deadline for the negotiations, saying President Donald Trump continues to prioritise diplomacy, while keeping other options on the table.

US officials say Tehran is expected to present more detailed proposals soon, including further clarity on its nuclear programme.

The cautious tone comes amid heightened military tensions.

US media reports indicate American forces are increasing their presence in the Middle East, while Israel is said to be on high alert amid speculation that Washington could consider military action if talks collapse.
