North West businessperson Brown Mogotsi will appear before the South African (SA) Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee this morning.
He is a central figure in allegations of corruption, political interference, and leaks of confidential police information.
The committee is investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption, and political interference in the justice system. Mogotsi initially wanted to appear virtually, citing safety concerns.
However, he ultimately availed himself to appear physically.
Mogotsi has been given one day to testify, but members of parliament like the African National Congress’s Khusela Diko are concerned that one day may not be sufficient.
“We did have a question on whether one day was enough for Mogotsi, but we will be guided by the chair, and I suppose the meeting on that. “I’m not sure given that, you know, other witnesses who seemed to be as involved as Mogotsi were sometimes given more than a day.”
