Namibian boxer Flame Nangolo, known as “Special One”, will defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super featherweight crown against Zimbabwe’s Tinashe Mwadziwane on May 2.
In a statement released this week, AC Promotions confirmed that the bout, branded “May Day”, will headline a major boxing showcase at the Roman Catholic Hall. The event is also expected to feature several rising Namibian prospects, underlining the country’s growing footprint on the regional boxing scene.
Mwadziwane, 37, brings considerable experience into the contest, having turned professional nearly two decades ago. While his record of 20 wins and 14 losses reflects an uneven career, the Zimbabwean has claimed multiple domestic titles, including the national flyweight, bantamweight and super bantamweight belts.
He also captured the World Boxing Federation African Super Featherweight title in 2023, a credential that adds weight to his challenge.
For Nangolo, the title defence represents another opportunity to consolidate his standing in the super featherweight division and to strengthen his profile beyond Namibia’s borders. Organisers say the May Day card is designed not only as a championship spectacle, but also as a platform to showcase emerging local talent.
