The national co-ordinator of the Ahlul Bait Foundation in South Africa (SA) and Africa, speaking on behalf of the Shia Muslim community, has asked for prayers for peace to prevail in the Middle East.
A special prayer service was held in Ottery in Cape Town, Western Cape Province, following the killing of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, by joint United States and Israeli airstrikes.
The foundation condemned the military action as heinous, but says the movement of resistance will never die with the killing of its leadership.
A sermon and prayer meeting in Ottery was held in commemoration of the late Ayatollah of Iran.
Expressing heartbreak and shock at the news of the killing, the Ahlul Bait Foundation says it is not surprising.
The organisation lauded the Ayatollah as one of its great leaders.
