Africa Week has officially opened at King’s College London, bringing together academics, policymakers and thought leaders from across the continent and beyond.
Hosted by the African Leadership Centre, the programme shines a spotlight on research, dialogue and debate around key African issues, from governance and security to development and leadership.
The week-long event features panel discussions, public lectures and networking sessions designed to amplify African perspectives in global conversations.
Medhane Tadesse, co-convener of the Centre’s flagship Africa Public Square debates, says the initiative creates an important platform for critical engagement.
He explains that Africa Week is not only about academic exchange, but about connecting research to real-world challenges and ensuring that African voices shape the narratives that affect the continent.
Organisers say the event aims to strengthen collaboration between scholars, practitioners and students, while fostering informed discussion on Africa’s evolving political, social and economic landscape.
