The Road Freight Association (RFA) in South Africa (SA) has expressed deep concern on the latest fuel price hike following the escalating violence in the Middle East.
The price of both grades of petrol has increased by $0.20 a litre, while the price of diesel has increased between $0.62 and $0.65 a litre.
The price of brent stands at $82.65.
The RFA’s Chief Executive Officer Gavin Kelly says that he hopes the violence will end soon so that stability can be restored to the markets.
“The increase in fuel prices are very unfortunate, given that during 2025, we saw a gradual decrease in fuel prices, which obviously was felt both at the toll for consumers in the country and in terms of general economic stability in the country. We saw that the rate of inflation slowed down. Fuel plays a huge role in the general economy and in affecting the basket of goods and inflation.”
